Herbal Remedies

According to the healing traditions I studied (Traditional Chinese Medicine or TCM, Ayurveda and Traditional Western herbalism), illness and disease arise when someone’s internal environment is out of balance. Many issues contribute to dis-ease in the body: the quality of our food, our sleep, our work, our interactions, our relationships, our thoughts, our environment.

We often don’t treat our bodies like our best friend – much less a temple. When our bodies are neglected, ignored, or run down, they let us know. It can be recurring colds, stiff shoulders, gastric upset or nagging lower back pain. Sometimes the warning signs show up as anxiety or insomnia. Whatever the discomfort, our symptoms are an opportunity to make a change, to bring ourselves back into balance. When balance is restored, so is health.

Below are links to my growing library of blog posts that introduce herbs and can help foster a greater understanding and appreciation for the edible and medicinal abundance all around us. I write about the green allies that I use in my own life. If you have one you’re particularly interested in learning more about, please let me know.
